| -On this kind of trip across the 22 cards I only take my visual observation from the deck of Jean Noblet ( 1650 ) But I think that is useful to remember some things about TdM.
1-The first accepted ancestor of Tarot de Marseille till now is the one known as the Cary Sheet from barely 1500 year 2-Then we have the Tarot de Paris from the first half of XVII century and then Jean Noblet and Jacques Vieville around 1650 also done in Paris both. 3-But the very first TdM trly as a whole was the one of Jean Noblet ( 1650 ) 4-Since Jean Noblet TdM began many iconographic details changes until arrived to the last true TdM : Nicolas Conver ( 1760) . Just only barely 100 hundred years gone by but one can not deny changes. 5-I told here before that TdM is for me a rework of Italians decks done by Frenchmen engravers with a French vision full of a deep past culture. So again I remark that TdM has enough background to sustain itself without need to call his "Italian Grandma". 6-The source of the meanings of TdM is not at Italian "fountain",is ay the French one...
**************************************************************************************************
1-He is very comfortable lean in his throne / outside open air throne, watching ona very lazy attitude his Empire. His is sure enough of his power so he watch to the present future without fear or prevention... 2-On his left hand he has a royal staff where the stick is skin coloured as his left arm = A king designed by God for an strictly power use on earth under God " Supervision ". So he is not owner of his power,he owe it all to God. 3-By contrary II card shows an absolutely control of POWER on earth... 4-See IIII figure eyes... // Looking to the sky not to his empire... He is a very weak man "acting" as an Emperor but contrary to II figure card that is "inside " the castle exerting her real power,he is outside as a supposed Emperor watching his empire. He is a depiction of all one try that others believe about us even it is a lie even if the others believe or not...

That pretty much says it. He's not worried. The Empress looks worried, though...hmmm.... - Quote :

| Hi Stella...
1-I think that he thanks to his power (he is an Emperor not a King) has time and place to enjoy his situation without move a single finger. He is placed and looking toward the left so to the past. He is not looking to the present future so to the right. He is not "working" for his empire. He is not going to war to gain more power,he live that for his Kings... So he really don t rule his empire.May be he only inherited his position. 2-Other reading could be a self made man that is secure enough to be worry. But as he is placed towards the left let me thinking on the prior supposition.

| -I did a mistake here... Each time I open a thread about a card I first do comparison between several decks before. But basically between Noblet,Dodal and Conver which all cover 100 years. My mind kept the Dodal image which also as you showed Conver they placed the figure toward the left. I said earlier that I will do my posts with Noblet deck so my apologize please.
1-So contrary I said Noblet IIII figure is placed toward the right side and he is paying attention to his empire. His looking toward the present-future. He is working for his empire. He is a very secure self made man. 2-His legs draw a four, his left sensitive red (action) leg cross the right one for regulate the energy that pass by from his right (action side ) which is blue so he act by divine inspiration. 3-He hold his royal staff with his left hand so he sustain his empire God mandate. The body of that staff is skin-earth coloured so he must govern bringing divine energy to earth, that is his truest mission here. The connection to earth of this divine energy is his right hand on his belt downloading it. It is very close to his genitals so to his creation power similar to God in scale. 3-Contrary to the others two decks mentioned he is looking to the sky,so to God.

| The figure-4 legs could relate to Jupiter. He's jovial, relaxed, expansive...that fits. There could be a parallel with Le Pendu: | |

| -Why not ? 1-The IIII figure govern and rule here on earth and LE PENDV reversed works on a reversal way so trying to upload the earth energy (ours included) for the purpose to return to God. LE PENDV is the figure at LE CHARIOT who began the trip before for me. 2-LE PENDV,precisely my next thread ... 3-Jupiter : A moon placed to the left over a cross of matter. Ours past and instincts emerging and becoming to the see the "sun" ... So contrary to Saturn where the moon is below.
